Trewman's Exeter Flying Post - March 28th 1822.

"During the whole of the trial the prisoner continued almost motionless, and maintained the utmost unconcern; but on sentence being pronounced by the Judge, he appeared to relent, and on being conducted back to prison he wept bitterly, and walked with a trembling, unsteady step"

"When brought out of his cell, a little before twelve, for execution he cried a great deal, but appeared stupified. He ascended the drop very firmly; and during the time the executioner was adjusting the rope, and the Reverend Chaplain reading the prayers, he stared vacantly around him, and appeared to pay but little attention either to one or the other. He shook hands with three persons, and after a pause of a minute he dropped the handkerchief, and was launched into eternity."
